Looks like Google is celebrating its ten Billionth download by offering several apps and games for 10 cents! I’m a big fan of Minecraft and seeing it go for ten cents made it an instant buy for me! Google’s Android has seen enormous growth this past year which is evident in it’s download frequency. This past year, almost every month, Android Marketplace has seen a 1 billion increase in downloads. That is incredibly impressive considering Apple iPhone, which has been around considerably longer, reached 15 billion this past summer.
In fact, this past year has been very kind to almost every smart phone, except RIM’s Blackberry, which is losing a lot of ground to Apple and Google. Google dominates the smart phone market at the moment, which isn’t surprising as they have multiple companies developing phones with their OS while iOS is only developed on Apple iPhones. With a friendlier price and more options to choose from it is no secret why Google’s Android is pushing ahead, as well as catching up, to competition VERY quickly. I’m trying not to fanboy out here, but I love seeing businesses succeed in a competitive market. What I really want to see is Apple push the envelope with iPhone 5 and see the market response. Competition only means better tech for us, the consumers.
So what apps and games do they offer for 10 cents? Glad you asked!
- Asphalt 6 Adrenaline HD
- Minecraft Pocket Edition
- Swiftkey X
- Endomondo Sports Tracker
- Great Little War Game
- Sketchbook Mobile
- Fieldrunners HD
- Color and Draw for Kids
- Paper Camera
So pop on over to the Android Marketplace and snag those apps before the sale is over! You can read more about it on Google’s Official Blog.
