The year is almost over, which is typically the time one reflects on the past 365 days. So looking back today we take a closer glance at some of 2012′s biggest mistakes, flops and screw-ups. We’ll go through all the usual software, technology and even PR stunts that caused more harm than good to a company attempting something new… Or worse, doing something horribly wrong that they used to do well all the time!
We’ve haven’t given Apple much news coverage lately, mostly because there isn’t much news to give. Apples iPad Mini, though a new product, isn’t anything new hardware and technology wise. in fact, it’s just a smaller version of a much older iPad. But the iPhone 5 is still around and still selling very well, as it should. The iPhone 5 is a solid device with a strong brand behind it all, not to mention iOS. Although the iPhone 5 isn’t new, folks still want it and may only be able to upgrade just now. So, should you upgrade to an iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, or go for a different brand all together?
With the release of the Windows RT, which is the Windows 8 Tablet that is more tablet than PC, folks have been waiting patiently to hear of the price of Windows Surface Pros, the tablets that are more PC than tablet. Well, the cats out of the bag, along with a release date and specific hardware specs, and folks may not be too quick to purchase Microsoft’s newest experiment upon release in January.
After Thanksgiving I realized just how much I used my phone for recipes and cooking. I made mixed drinks, desserts and even whole meals using various apps on my phone, tablet and Windows 8 device. Relatives of mine, who are tech deficient in a few ways, were amazed such tools have been available for some time. It’s that time of year again, Black Friday is just around the corner with Cyber Monday and Small business Tuesday right behind. Although, it seems, more and more online stores ignore Cyber Monday and have an entire week of crazy sales. We don’t have the inside word on what deals to expect, but we do know what new tech gifts you should keep and eye out for and what deals you’ll probably see come Black Friday. Many months ago I wrote an article about the future of Google Wallet and it seems many other companies are jumping into the fray of digital wallet management. Some banks and credit card companies on their own are developing their own digital wallets, which is pushing all of these into a digital arms race. What does this mean for the possible future of digital wallets, and is this the end of plastic?
