It seems nothing is slowing Samsung down after it surpassed Nokia in cellphone sales just a year ago. Samsung, who has been ahead of Apple in the smartphone marketshare, has lengthened it’s lead over the supposed smartphone giant. With the massive success of the Samsung Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note 2, it’s no surprise that they have had massive success. But just how much success have they been having? And what companies are biting at their heels besides Apple?
We heard of the Facebook phone… that has never really appeared on shelves, and it seems Mozilla, the creators of Firefox, want in on the action. Mozilla recently showed off a phone running their Firefox OS at CES, though no one was sure what to make of it. Until now. They have revealed their developer preview phone that is never meant to go on shelves, but for developers to make apps for. This phone, which looks like an iPhone OS in a Nokia Lumia’s body, has some specs following it’s release. Check out the specs after the break.
CES is only around the corner and there are some exciting things to be revealed this year. A lot of excitement in the HDTV industry for the most part. This year Samsung has more heads turning in their direction for their hype building HDTV teaser, while most people don’t expect too many big things from Smart phones besides some mid-range device.
A Vimeo user by the name of alversae caught a UPS delivery man stealing his daughters Christmas present off their porch using their front door security camera. The Christmas present was an iPad Mini, which was probably easy to surmise by the delivery man from the size of the package and where it was coming from. The video, shown below, shows the Fedex guy find a pre-signed document for delivery, scans the package, and then drop it off. A while later, around 1pm, the UPS driver drops off his own package and sees the Fedex package. He leaves for about a minute, only to return, take a close look and appear to “scan” the device, and then walk off with it.
We’ve haven’t given Apple much news coverage lately, mostly because there isn’t much news to give. Apples iPad Mini, though a new product, isn’t anything new hardware and technology wise. in fact, it’s just a smaller version of a much older iPad. But the iPhone 5 is still around and still selling very well, as it should. The iPhone 5 is a solid device with a strong brand behind it all, not to mention iOS. Although the iPhone 5 isn’t new, folks still want it and may only be able to upgrade just now. So, should you upgrade to an iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, or go for a different brand all together?
