We’ve haven’t given Apple much news coverage lately, mostly because there isn’t much news to give. Apples iPad Mini, though a new product, isn’t anything new hardware and technology wise. in fact, it’s just a smaller version of a much older iPad. But the iPhone 5 is still around and still selling very well, as it should. The iPhone 5 is a solid device with a strong brand behind it all, not to mention iOS. Although the iPhone 5 isn’t new, folks still want it and may only be able to upgrade just now. So, should you upgrade to an iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, or go for a different brand all together?
With the release of the Windows RT, which is the Windows 8 Tablet that is more tablet than PC, folks have been waiting patiently to hear of the price of Windows Surface Pros, the tablets that are more PC than tablet. Well, the cats out of the bag, along with a release date and specific hardware specs, and folks may not be too quick to purchase Microsoft’s newest experiment upon release in January.
After Thanksgiving I realized just how much I used my phone for recipes and cooking. I made mixed drinks, desserts and even whole meals using various apps on my phone, tablet and Windows 8 device. Relatives of mine, who are tech deficient in a few ways, were amazed such tools have been available for some time. One was even amazed their favorite recipe website had it’s own app. So here are TheBlueDot’s favorite cooking/recipe apps!
I know, I know, I have been writing about SmartGlass quite often the past couple months, but this will probably be the last one (That is a lie). Android devices managed to score Microsoft’s SmartGlass app on the day of Windows 8 release, most of them anyway, and now it’s Apple’s turn! Microsofts SmartGlass is now available to iOS Devices, which include iPads and iPhones.
With Microsoft releasing surface and Windows 8 in the next coming months more and more info has been spilling out to give customers an idea of what they are in for. SmartGlass, if you’re unaware, is an “app” that will connect all your digital devices together even if it’s a refurbished cell phone. So they will feel more like limbs of a single device, as oppose to devices connected via bluetooth. The idea goes along with Windows 8 new metro design that will be across all windows device. Such as their phones, tablets, PC and even the Xbox (which was updated today with a quasi Windows 8 look). But what is the first SmartGlass app to surface this coming year?
Some new things at E3 will work with both used and refurbished cell phones, which is a great surprise! A couple days ago I let you all in on what Nintendo showed off at this years E3, the Wii U tablet controller console. One question I asked was what Microsoft or Sony’s response would be to this game changer. Well, seems Microsoft didn’t just have a response, they had a counter! Microsoft has really been pushing the Xbox as an all around media hub for your household, but it normally stopped in your livingroom… Not if Microsoft has anything to say about it.
