Android Cell phonesIt’s been months since Google laid it’s loving eyes on Motorola and asked them to be theirs and now it’s finally official. As of today the two companies are one, Motorola being one of the first companies to release a Google Android smart phone, creatively named “Droid”, back in 2009. They had a special bond back then, especially since Motorola was, to some, on the brink of total collapse. the Android OS saved the spry cell phone company and now it’s part of one of the largest companies in the world.

Refurbished cell phonesI hope you like buying used and refurbished cell phones, because Verizon adopted the tiered data plans just under a year ago, but if you had unlimited data before then, you were fine. I got my Droid X just before the tiered service started and have been enjoying the freedom of not having to keep an eye on how much data I use. Well, those days may be numbered.

It’s finally here, though a bit awkward to start up. You may have not even noticed right away as you have to go to facebook’s timeline website to even sign up. But Facebook timeline is here and boy… is it an OCD nightmare. I took about 20 minutes of my morning reviewing it and seeing what possible improvements it may have, not to mention integration into mobile devices, and found myself getting lost over and over again. But is this an improvement over it’s old design? Or is this the last hurrah of a cluttered dying mess?

Technology has grown pretty quickly the past 20 to 30 years. This generation back to generation X of the 80′s are more accustomed to quickly changing tech, which gives them an edge when something new comes along. The generations before were more accustom to calling a specialist when something goes wrong, while more recent generations tend to search Google before giving up and finding a specialist. Since there are rarely any Cellphone specialist on hand for your parents, the children tend to be the tech experts, when in reality they simply know where to look on Google. My parents both recently got Droids. My father owns a Droid X for Verizon, like myself and my mother owns an LG Vortex for Verizon. Whenever I come home they always try to spend an hour with me asking questions about their phone and how they can make it work for them. In the time I have spent with them going over some basic tools for their smart phone, and some more complex, I think  I can safely give you all a few things to tell your folks when they leap into the smart phone world.
