From new, used and refurbished cell phones updates seem to take ages when on an Android device. You hear about the lateast and greatest update only to find out your phone isn’t getting one for weeks, months or not at all. So what’s the deal? Why do Apple products get updates seemingly faster than all Android devices? Why does one phone get an update and dozens others either take months, or never get it? Sony revealed the Playstation 4 at their event last week with cell phones and games as the centerpiece. Microsoft and Nintendo have been pushing the mobile aspect of gaming lately, Microsoft more than Nintendo. With Nintendo’s WiiU using their tablet controller to play your full games anywhere in the house, and the Xbox’s Microsoft Smartglass enabling you to control the system on your cell phone, the key word here is integration. Sony, of course, didn’t ignore this ongoing trend and are pushing their own version of integration, but does it go far enough and what does it really mean for a consumer?

With the release of the Windows RT, which is the Windows 8 Tablet that is more tablet than PC, folks have been waiting patiently to hear of the price of Windows Surface Pros, the tablets that are more PC than tablet. Well, the cats out of the bag, along with a release date and specific hardware specs, and folks may not be too quick to purchase Microsoft’s newest experiment upon release in January.

I know, I know, I have been writing about SmartGlass quite often the past couple months, but this will probably be the last one (That is a lie). Android devices managed to score Microsoft’s SmartGlass app on the day of Windows 8 release, most of them anyway, and now it’s Apple’s turn! Microsofts SmartGlass is now available to iOS Devices, which include iPads and iPhones.

Well… it certainly took Mark Zuckerberg long enough to start working on their app program. There is one complaint I hear across all platforms, be it android, iOS or Blackberry; the facebook app is terrible. It loads incredibly slowly, the notifications are all wonky, and you may as well take a nap if you’re not connected to WiFi because it just won’t load anything.
