illegal to unlock used cell phonesUnlocking your used cell phone may be illegal thanks to a strict anti-hacking law called DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) passed last year, with folks online pretty upset with it’s broad stroke of power. This didn’t really hit the public’s eye until recently though, with the closing of a short window of legality allowed by the librarian of Congress. Back in October it was decided that, under the DMCA, unlocking your phone was illegal. The Librarian of Congress allowed a three month window for people to unlock as many phones as they wanted… that window closed this past Saturday.

Microsoft Smart GlassWith Microsoft releasing surface and Windows 8 in the next coming months more and more info has been spilling out to give customers an idea of what they are in for. SmartGlass, if you’re unaware, is an “app” that will connect all your digital devices together even if it’s a refurbished cell phone. So they will feel more like limbs of a single device, as oppose to devices connected via bluetooth. The idea goes along with Windows 8 new metro design that will be across all windows device. Such as their phones, tablets, PC and even the Xbox (which was updated today with a quasi Windows 8 look). But what is the first SmartGlass app to surface this coming year?

Buying a refurbished cell phone may be cost effectiveIf you are in the habit of buying the latest phone, you may want to look into the used and refurbished cell phone market. Verizon released the full details of what plans will be available June 28th and for all those customers with Unlimited data that will eventually be forced off, unless they buy used cell phones. The new plans are… confusing at best and expensive at worst. It seems everyone gets a kick in the wallet once this new plan kicks in, and shared plans are the ones getting the biggest hit. Android Cell PhonesSome new things at E3 will work with both used and refurbished cell phones, which is a great surprise! A couple days ago I let you all in on what Nintendo showed off at this years E3, the Wii U tablet controller console. One question I asked was what Microsoft or Sony’s response would be to this game changer. Well, seems Microsoft didn’t just have a response, they had a counter! Microsoft has really been pushing the Xbox as an all around media hub for your household, but it normally stopped in your livingroom… Not if Microsoft has anything to say about it.

Refurbished cell phones The used and refurbished cell phone market keeps looking better and better… Remember that article we wrote yesterday? Lots of unanswered questions and hints at moving plans to cheaper services. Well, Verizon finally opened up and released the full details on the changes they will be implementing. Some of the things we mentioned yesterday have changed and the one question I had was answered. That question was, what if I am already upgraded to unlimited 4G LTE date? The good news is I can keep it… The bad news though…
